Labelmate, made for labels that pay their artists
Labelmate is made by the team behind vvault. We built it for one job: the royalty statements an independent label owes its artists twice a year, and everything it takes to put them together.
Why
Twice a year, the same lost week
In an independent label, royalty statements are often done in a spreadsheet. You copy each distributor's report, find each contract in your email, work out what is left to recoup on every advance, then lay out one statement per artist.
The work comes back every six months, and one formula copied wrong is enough to make a statement wrong. Yet record contracts usually call for a statement every six months, and in France the law even requires labels to account to each artist for how their pay was calculated, explicitly and transparently, at that pace.
We wanted this work to become simple, exact and checkable, without asking a label to hand its data to a server.

Your data stays with you
The label's database is encrypted on its computers. To keep your computers in step, our servers only carry sealed copies we cannot read.
The AI proposes, you decide
The AI reads your contracts and invoices and shows you the passage it read; Labelmate checks every value against the document's text. Nothing is saved until someone at the label accepts it, and the math never goes through the AI.
Every figure has a source
Every line of a statement points back to the report lines it comes from. Once a period is issued, its figures no longer change.
Nothing disappears quietly
Removing a report does not erase it: it stays in the history, and a report used by an issued statement stays in place.

The team behind vvault
vvault is the platform thousands of beatmakers and artists use to share their music. Building it taught us what music asks of software: reliability, discretion, and tools that don't waste your time.
Labelmate is a separate product, designed only for labels. It is published in Belgium, so the GDPR applies to us directly.

Where we are
Ten founding labels
We are opening Labelmate to 10 independent labels, in the US, Europe or anywhere else. We set it up with each of them: their mailbox, their contracts, each distributor's format, their balances. Then we rebuild their last statement period and compare it, artist by artist, with what they sent.
These ten labels get 50% off year one and onboarding waived, with no risk: they pay nothing until their last statements, rebuilt with us, match theirs to the cent. Labelmate runs on Mac and Windows, on the label's own computers. The plans and their prices are on the Pricing page.
How it is made
An app on your computers, not one more website
Labelmate is an app for Mac and Windows. It reads the label's mailbox read-only, offers to file what it finds and does the math on your computers.
Several people at the label can work in it, each on their own computer: every new computer joins the label with a twelve-word invitation, and gets a role. To keep your computers in sync, our servers only carry sealed copies, and, for your artists, the sealed pages you publish: they are stored in the European Union.

Questions
Who publishes Labelmate?
Labelmate is a vvault product, published in Belgium. Our legal notice gives the publisher's name and contact details.
Is Labelmate tied to a distributor?
No. Labelmate is not a distributor: it reads the reports your distributor sends you, whoever it is, and you keep your current distributor.
Where are your servers?
With Cloudflare. What they store is kept in the European Union, and requests pass through Cloudflare's worldwide network. For the label's data, they only carry sealed copies we cannot read; your documents and figures stay on your computers.
Does Labelmate pay the artists?
No. Labelmate works out and documents what is owed. The payment leaves from your bank, as it does today.
